World Travel Awards reveals nominees for Africa & Indian Ocean Gala Ceremony

World-Travel-Awards2The prestigious World Travel Awards has announced a list of nominees ahead of its upcoming Africa & Indian Ocean Gala ceremony 2016. This year’s ceremony will be hosted by Diamonds La Gemma dell’Est resort in Zanzibar, Tanzania, on April 9th.

With more than 1,500 nominations revealed, voting is expected to be highly competitive right up until the February 29th deadline.

Award categories range from destinations, tourist boards and airlines to luxury hotels, travel technology providers and adventure tour operators.

Along with Madagascar, Mauritius, Reunion Island and Seychelles, the Maldives has been nominated for a number of awards in the Indian Ocean region, including Leading Beach Destination, Leading Cruise Destination, Leading Destination, Leading Dive Destination, Leading Honeymoon Destination, and Leading Tourist Board.

A number of Maldivian resorts were also nominated for several award categories, including Leading Dive Resort, Leading Family Resort, Leading Green Resort, Leading Hotel Residences, Leading Hotel Suite, Leading Luxury Water Villa, Leading Hotel, Leading Culinary Hotel and Most Romantic Resort, among others.

In the Hotels & Resorts category, JA Manafaru , Jumeirah Vittaveli, LUX* Maldives and One&Only Reethi Rah were nominated for Indian Ocean’s Leading Beach Resort whilst Cocoa Island by COMO was nominated for Indian Ocean’s Leading Boutique Hotel award.

Banyan Tree Hotels & Resorts, Conrad Hotels & Resorts, Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts, Hilton Hotels & Resorts, Jumeirah, One&Only Resorts, Six Senses Hotels, resorts & spas were nominated for the Leading Hotel Brand category.

Nominees for Indian Ocean’s Leading Luxury Resort category include Ayada Maldives, Baros Maldives, Cheval Blanc Randheli, Gili Lankanfushi, Jumeirah Dhevanafushi, , Jumeirah Vittaveli, Kanuhura Resort & Spa, ,and PER AQUUM Huvafen Fushi .

Amari Havodda , Club Med Finolhu Villas and Loama Resort Maldives at Maamigili, Coco Prive’ Kuda Hithi Island and  Coco Island by COMO were listed amongst the nominees for Leading Private Island Resort and New Leading Resort  categories.
