Gan International Airport serves as the main gateway to Southern Maldives. As such, the expansion of a new and modern passenger terminal is critical to the development of other industries in the southern region. The Ministry of Economic Development aims to start the groundwork for the project in late 2022. As of now, only two airlines fly to Gan International Airport including Sri Lankan Airlines and national airline Maldivian.
