Maldives’ largest sport fishing tournament ‘Burunu Boma’ opens for registration

The Visit Maldives Club (VMC) has opened participation for the Maldives’ largest sports fishing tournament, ‘Burunu Boma,’ which is set to take place in May 2025. The VMC is an initiative led by the staff of the Maldives Marketing & Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC/Visit Maldives) and aims to strengthen the country’s tourism industry by organising engaging events that foster a unified tourism community, working together to enhance the Maldives as a premier global destination.

‘Burunu Boma’ was officially launched on December 20, 2024, during a ceremony held at the Malé Table Tennis Hall. The event was attended by the Minister of Fisheries and Ocean Resources, Ahmed Shiyam.

Anglers from the Maldives and across the world are invited to participate in the tournament for a chance to win the grand prize of USD 10,000. Taking place in the Maldives’ stunning waters, the competition promises an unforgettable experience filled with excitement, world-class fishing, and intense rivalry.
