Maldives tourist arrivals show increase, says minister

The Ministry of Tourism Maldives has stated that tourist arrivals to the Maldives have begun to increase.

Tourism Minister Ibrahim Thoriq made the statement while briefing the press on measures taken to address the impact of the Middle East conflict on the tourism sector.

The Minister said the conflict had resulted in flight cancellations and a decline in arrivals. He added that efforts were undertaken to identify alternative approaches to maintain visitor inflows.

According to the Minister, arrivals have since increased. More than 700,000 tourists have visited the Maldives so far this year.

He also stated that 56,136 tourists have arrived during the current month, with an average daily arrival of 5,103.

The Ministry stated that efforts are ongoing to maintain arrivals amid changes in international travel conditions.
