Alia, MIT begin 2026 training programme for Maldives boat captains
Alia, in collaboration with the Maldives Institute of Technology (MIT), has officially commenced the 2026 Boat Operators Training Programme, reaffirming its commitment to enhancing safety, and operational excellence in the marine transport sector.
The programme, held from 14th to 16th July 2026, brings together 48 boat captains from resorts, marine transport operators, and government institutions. Now in its 12th year, the initiative continues to strengthen the technical knowledge and practical skills of boat captains across the Maldives.

This year’s programme covers a range of essential topics, including maritime regulations, navigation safety, emergency response procedures, first aid, fire safety, and best practices in vessel operations. Participants will also receive practical training on Yamaha outboard engine maintenance and troubleshooting, helping them improve operational efficiency and decision-making while at sea.

The Boat Operators Training programme forms part of Alia’s ongoing commitment to supporting the development of the country’s marine industry through knowledge sharing and capacity building. As the sole distributor of Yamaha outboard engines in the Maldives, Alia remains dedicated to delivering comprehensive training opportunities that contribute to safer and more efficient marine operations. The company also extends its appreciation to the Maldives Institute of Technology and all participating organisations for their continued partnership and support.

The program continues to play an important role in developing skilled, safety-conscious boat captains who are well-equipped to meet the evolving needs of the Maldives’ marine transport industry.
