Alila Kothaifaru Maldives debuts its Chef’s Table series with Michelin-starred Chef Zizi Hattab

Alila Kothaifaru Maldives has announced an exceptional vegan culinary adventure with visiting chef Zineb “Zizi” Hattab. From January 22 to 28, 2024, Chef Zizi will take over as guest chef for the Chef’s Table at Seasalt restaurant and The Shack private sandbank, with the support of Edelweiss Air, which provides a regular direct flight from Zurich to Male, Maldives.

Alila’s Chef’s Table is a culinary series that invites renowned chefs, each with a distinct background, to showcase their commitment to sustainability and their passion for culinary diversity as they create innovative twists on Maldivian flavors and cuisine.

Chef Zizi is a culinary luminary who, having left her career as a software developer to pursue her passion for gastronomy, has become one of the world’s most celebrated vegan chefs, earning a place on the prestigious list of 50 Next by The World’s 50 Best Restaurants in 2022. Her dedication to plant-based cuisine earned her restaurants, KLE restaurant and DAR restaurant in Zürich, the distinction of being the first vegan establishments in Switzerland to receive a Bib Gourmand with one red and two green Michelin stars in the Michelin Guide Switzerland 2023.

Chef Zizi’s culinary creations are an exquisite fusion of Moroccan and Spanish flavors, inspired by her cultural heritage and extensive travels. She is renowned for her use of fresh, seasonal ingredients and her innovative approach to plant-based cuisine, which aligns perfectly with Alila’s food philosophy.

During her guest engagement at Alila Kothaifaru Maldives, Chef Zizi will curate a special vegan menu with a Maldivian twist, creating delectable dishes incorporating exotic spices from the Indian Ocean.
