[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Hurawalhi Island Resort, a 90-villa adult-only luxury resort, has officially opened its doors.  The enchanting island is located on the north-western edge of Lhaviyani Atoll, comes with the world’s largest underwater restaurant, and was officially inaugurated by President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom.  “Whether above or under the water, Hurawalhi is about experiencing the extraordinary,” Patrick De Staercke – General Manager at Hurawalhi Maldives told Hotelier Maldives. The 90 villas offer a mix of sleek and elegant over water villas and beach villas.  All villa types are available with and without private infinity pools.

Helping to make Hurawalhi stand out for guests is the iconic ‘5.8 Undersea Restaurant’ which has already put Hurawalhi on the wish lists of many travellers who are after unique and exclusive experiences. 5.8, the world’s largest all-glass undersea restaurant, takes its name from the depth at which it sits beneath the surface of the ocean, will accommodate 16 guests and will be open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, with one sitting for each.

“Standing in 5.8, with the sunlight streaming through and a staggering amount of fish life swarming around the undersea restaurant it’s hard to imagine a more incredible location. Hurawalhi is really something unique and special and we are incredibly excited to be welcoming our first guests,” De Staercke said.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”12309″ img_size=”large”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Combining luxury with sustainability has been at the heart of the concept for Hurawalhi, and up to 60% of the resort will be powered by solar energy. There is also a water bottling plant to substantially reduce plastic consumption, food recycling programme and a collection of local greenhouses to ensure fresh and healthy produce for guests.

“From the sleek and elegant villas, the iconic 5.8 Undersea Restaurant, the stunning architectural design, eco-friendliness and sustainability, award winning Spa and diving center, right through to the hand-picked team that will be ensuring our guests have an amazing stay,” De Staercke said. “Diners can expect to be taken on a culinary journey with each of the tasting menu dishes blending superb ingredients with innovation and style, resulting in a showcase of imaginative modern cuisine,” he added.

The award winning Duniye Spa is a sanctuary of relaxation, indulgence, mindfulness and well-being. It offers a wide range of spa and well-being programmes available, as well as unique indulgences for couples make blissful relaxation, as well as yoga and mindful practices.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”12310″ img_size=”large”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Hurawalhi will also be supported by Prodivers Maldives, who were recently voted as the ‘Best PADI Overseas Dive Center’ by readers of the UK Sport Diver magazine. Hurawalhi is nestled among some of the Lhaviyani Atoll’s most prolific reefs, with a Manta Ray feeding ground just a mere 5-minutes away.  Indeed, it is due to this close proximity of this site that Hurawalhi and Prodivers were chosen by the Manta Trust, to become a key regional partner to further develop its efforts to understand the manta rays and further realm of marine fauna in this area.  The Manta Trust has been researching the Manta Ray population of the Maldives for over 10 years. The resident Marine Biologist will be an integral part of the experiences programme for guests at Hurawalhi.

Even romance receives the extra special kiss at Hurawalhi, with bespoke renewal of vows packages available, which can be overseen by renowned celebrity event and wedding planner Patrizia Cilli who has worked with Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, George Clooney and Sir Paul McCartney, celebrity stylist Danie Bless and many other well-known clients.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”12311″ img_size=”large”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
