Gili Lankanfushi promotes Ahmed Majid to Director of Engineering

Gili Lankanfushi Maldives has promoted Ahmed Majid to Director of Engineering, marking the latest step in a career at the resort spanning more than 15 years.

Majid joined Gili Lankanfushi in October 2010 as Chief Engineer and has since been involved in a range of engineering projects and initiatives supporting the resort’s operations, sustainability objectives and long-term development.

In his new position as Director of Engineering, Majid brings extensive knowledge of the resort’s infrastructure and operations, developed during more than a decade and a half with the property.

The promotion forms part of a series of internal appointments announced by Gili Lankanfushi in September, with the resort saying the appointments reflect its focus on developing talent from within and providing opportunities for professional growth across departments.

Engineering plays a central role in the operation of island resorts in the Maldives, where teams oversee infrastructure ranging from power and water systems to accommodation, utilities and the maintenance of facilities. At Gili Lankanfushi, the engineering function also supports the resort’s sustainability objectives and ongoing development.

Majid’s promotion recognises his contribution to these areas throughout his tenure at the resort.

Located in North Malé Atoll, Gili Lankanfushi comprises 45 overwater villas, including seven Crusoe Residences and The Private Reserve. The resort is approximately 20 minutes by speedboat from Malé.
