Maldives records 9.5% growth with over 1.5 million visitors this year
Maldives has welcomed over 1.5 million tourists so far this year, according to recent statistics.
Data from the Tourism Ministry indicates a 9.5% increase in tourist arrivals compared to the same period last year, with an additional 131,185 visitors. In 2023, the 1.5 millionth tourist arrived on October 28.
China remains the largest source market, contributing more than 227,000 tourists. The top 10 countries for tourism arrivals are:
- China – 227,400 tourists
- Russia – 165,300 tourists
- United Kingdom – 127,700 tourists
- Germany – 109,700 tourists
- Italy – 107,623 tourists
- India – 92,000 tourists
- United States – 51,100 tourists
- France – 41,400 tourists
- Spain – 35,000 tourists
- Switzerland – 28,600 tourists
Currently, the Maldives has 1,224 tourist establishments in operation, which include 171 resorts, 887 guesthouses, 152 safari vessels, and 14 hotels.
