
Maldives tourist arrivals jump 15% in June; 2025 arrivals top 1.1 million
The number of tourists visiting the Maldives in June increased by 15 percent compared to the same month last year, with total arrivals in 2025 surpassing 1.1 million, according to data released by the Ministry of Tourism.
A total of 141,772 tourists visited the Maldives in June 2025, up from 123,284 in June 2024. Tourist arrivals for the first six months of this year increased by 9 percent year-on-year, rising from 1.01 million in 2024 to 1.1 million this year.
According to the Ministry of Tourism, an average of 6,000 tourists are arriving in the Maldives daily. Data shows that 72 percent of visitors spend their holidays at resorts, 22 percent stay in guesthouses, while 2 percent choose liveaboard vessels and another 2 percent stay in hotels.
China is the leading source market this year, with 141,162 arrivals recorded so far. The next highest source markets include:

- Italy: 86,891 arrivals
- Germany: 82,188 arrivals
- India: 66,501 arrivals
- France: 35,511 arrivals
- United States: 34,800 arrivals

- Australia: 20,788 arrivals
The government has set a target of welcoming 2.5 million tourists in 2025.
