Six graduate from One&Only Reethi Rah Dharivaru programme

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]One&Only Reethi Rah has celebrated the graduation of six apprentices from its Dharivaru programme. The apprenticeship programme seeks to train youth and encourage them to turn into passionate hoteliers. Inaugurated in 2013, the main highlight of the programme is to provide opportunities for the local youth, and support the community by training and developing Maldivian workforce for the Hospitality Industry.

The six apprentices were awarded certificates at a function held at One&Only Reethi Rah, in the presence of tourism minister Ali Waheed, general manager Jan B. Tibaldi, Director of HR Malia Severino and the top management of the property. Five of the graduates were also offered the opportunity to work at the resort.

Addressing the graduates, Ali Waheed highlighted on the need to train and educate more youth in the field of hospitality and tourism. “You should aim to use this opportunity, offered by one of the top resorts in the Maldives, and make the best of it to ensure that you become people whom the nation can be proud of,” he added.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”21810″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The fifth edition of the programme started in March 2018, where the first six months of the programme saw the apprentices working in different departments; manning the front desk to serving in fine dining restaurants, etc. They were also measured in the form of weekly theory sessions and feedback following each placement, facilitated by an in-house team of highly experienced industry professionals.

The apprentices were offered the chance to specialise in the field of their choice in the second phase of the programme, enabling them to get exposure, insights in detail and gain practical knowledge. The apprentices are not only trained to hospitality standards, but the programme also ensures that they come out as thorough and disciplined individuals, according to the resort.

“The programme has given me a chance to choose my career and has helped me discover my passion in culinary arts,” commented Uwais Fayaz, one of the graduates. “In addition to that, the rotations in different departments have given me a lot of knowledge and I can confidently say that I can fit in any on the departments after this opportunity. This programme has surely been a life-changing experience for me.”

Five years in, the One&Only Reethi Rah Dharivaru programme has trained over 50 apprentices, who have discovered their passion and have continued to pursue their careers in the hospitality industry.
