Savaadheeththa Dhathuru Set Sail to Journey through the Maldives

‘Savaadheeththa Dhathuru’ yacht rally organised by the Maldives Integrated Tourism Development Corporation (MITDC) commenced on 5th February 2022 from HA. Hoarafushi, the most northern atoll of the country.

The rally will take a course of three weeks to reach the end point in Baa Atoll, depicting the voyage of Boduthakurufaanu, one of the most revered heroes in Maldives history.  The rally aims to promote Maldivian culture & heritage, its rich history and yacht tourism.

Twelve yachts participated from across the world, including United States, Australia, Ireland, Thailand, UAE and India. Participants will visit a total of eleven inhabited islands, exploring local heritage sites on each island and experiencing the island lifestyle.

On 7th February, participants arrived at HA.Ihavandhoo and visited the 320-year-old Ihavandhoo Old Friday Mosque before they set sail to HA.Baarah. As per the published schedule, they are next to visit HA.Utheemu and H.Dh Nolhivaranfaru on the 9th and 10th of February. The journey ends on 13th February with a gala night at Fari Islands.
