Secret Paradise in ‘Top 10 Sustainability Initiatives, Tour Operations’

Secret Paradise Maldives has been included in the Wanderlust Travel Media’s ‘Top 10 Sustainability Initiatives, Tour Operations’ category for 2022. UK’s travel magazine, Wanderlust has been at the forefront of sustainable travel for almost thirty years.

Three new Sustainability Categories were included in this year’s awards which allowed Tourist Boards, Tour Operators and Accommodation providers to highlight sustainability initiatives and innovations. Each category submission was supported by documented evidence. After which, it was judged by a panel of industry and sustainability experts including Derek Moore, Kate Kenward, John Telfer, Holly Tuppen, Vicky Smith, Richard Hammond, Karen Edwards and Tess Longfield.

“To be ranked 7th is a huge accomplishment for a local independent travel business. We are competing with some of the biggest global travel companies, some of whom we are fortunate to have as partners and we are privileged to stand alongside them in this category. As a team we are proud to promote sustainable and responsible travel. We hope we inspire our partners, our guests and the tourism industry as a whole, demonstrating that any size of business can make a positive impact,” commented Ruth Franklin, Secret Paradise Co-Founder.

Since its establishment in 2012, sustainability and responsible tourism has been a significant part of Secret Paradise Maldives. They ensure the promotion of local tourism falls in line with Maldivian culture and traditions. Secret Paradise educates their team, guests and locals to protect the environment and limit negative impact to local life.
