Team Maldives recognised as “Most Promising Talent” at Asian Pastry Cup

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Team Maldives has been recognised as the “Most Promising Talent” at the Asian Pastry Cup. Team Maldives was represented at the exhibition by two Maldivian pastry chefs, Chef Aminath Hameed from Conrad Maldives Rangali Island and Chef Ibrahim Fareed from Soneva Fushi Resort alongside Chef Indra Kumar Limbu (Team Coach) from Hulhulé Island Hotel.

The Asian Pastry Cup was held from April 24-25 at the Singapore Expo coinciding with Food & Hotel Asia 2018 (FHA Singapore), where Team Maldives won recognition and an accolade as the “Most Promising Talent” amongst the 12 Countries which competed for the most important Pastry Competition in Asia.

The team, sponsored by leading resort supplier Bestbuy Maldives (BBM) and Maldives Exhibition & Conference Services (MECS) the organisers of the annual Hotel Asia Exhibition & Culinary Challenge in the Maldives and were mentored by Chef Alan Palmer.

The Maldives competed alongside Asian culinary giants Australia, Singapore, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, China, India, Taiwan, Philippines, Sri Lanka & Syria in an eight-hour-long competition in which they had to prepare and present a chocolate showpiece, a sugar showpiece, 18 plated desserts and 2 chocolate pastries.

Team Maldives was adjudged the Most Promising Talent by a very eminent jury comprising the likes of Gabriel Paillasson – M.O.F – President D’honneur – World Pastry Cup; Philippe Rigollot – M.O.F & World Champion – International President – World Pastry Cup; and Jean-Francois Arnaud – M.O.F – Asia President World Pastry Cup.
