The Westin Maldives Appoints Jorge Colazo as Executive Chef

The Westin Maldives Miriandhoo Resort has appointed Jorge Colazo as Executive Chef. In addition to his immense passion for culinary arts, Jorge brings with him extensive experience around different markets which he aims to use to further enhance the culinary experiences at The Westin Maldives.

Jorge has worked in kitchens across the world for almost two decades now. His cuisine showcases and celebrates the finest local and international products and their very best – fresh, innovative, and elaborate. Driven by passion and dedication, his cuisine reflects all his experiences.

Born and raised in the city of Ushuaia, Argentina, Jorge graduated from the Argentine Institute of Gastronomy and Le Cordon Bleu Paris. With a passion for experiencing new cultures and cuisines, he travelled extensively. This helped him improve his skills and craft his signature cooking style. From Argentina to Spain, Mexico to the United States, Jorge has worked in several top restaurants including the three-Michelin star Arzak in San Sebastian, Asiate in New York, and two-Michelin star restaurant Aquavit New York.

In 2017, Jorge moved to London, taking up the role of Executive Sous Chef at Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park. In 2021, he joined the pre-opening team of The Westin London City. Apart of culinary arts, Jorge is also passionate about sports, travelling and meeting people from different cultures.

“I am thrilled to continue growing professionally in a brand like Westin Hotels & Resorts that through its Eat Well pillar, gives me the opportunity to provide elevated and healthy culinary creations to guests in one of the most desirable destinations around the globe,” said Jorge.
