Visit Maldives introduces cultural Ambassadorship Programme for local artists
The Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC/Visit Maldives) has announced the launch of the Visit Maldives Local Ambassadorship Programme—an initiative aimed at engaging and empowering Maldivian artists and creatives in promoting the Maldives as a culturally rich and vibrant destination.
This newly introduced programme seeks to collaborate with talented individuals from across the country to represent the Maldives’ unique cultural identity, heritage, and natural beauty through various artistic forms. Open to creatives from multiple disciplines—including music, visual arts, photography, film, writing, performance, and digital media—the initiative is designed to showcase authentic Maldivian narratives to global audiences.
Visit Maldives intends to highlight local talent by appointing cultural ambassadors who can share original and culturally resonant stories, contributing to a deeper and more diverse portrayal of the Maldives internationally. Applicants are expected to demonstrate creativity, cultural sensitivity, and a strong commitment to portraying the Maldivian spirit in a positive and meaningful way.
As part of the programme’s launch, Visit Maldives has announced the selection of the band 2ofUs as its first local ambassadors. The group will represent the Maldives as a premier holiday destination during their international performances, which include upcoming shows in India, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, and France. Notably, 2ofUs has also received an invitation to audition for Britain’s Got Talent Series 19 in September this year.
The Local Ambassadorship Programme forms part of Visit Maldives’ wider destination marketing strategy. By strengthening the connection between tourism promotion and the local creative industry, MMPRC aims to diversify its outreach efforts while celebrating the wealth of homegrown artistic talent.
Maldivians with a clear artistic vision and a passion for showcasing their country to the world are encouraged to apply. Expressions of interest can be submitted via email to: proposals@visitmaldives.com.
