
Maldives records 1.5% decline in tourist arrivals in February
The number of tourists visiting the Maldives in February this year decreased compared to the same period last year, according to figures released by Maldives Immigration.
A total of 214,091 tourists arrived in the country last month, compared to 217,391 in February last year, marking a 1.5% decline, or 3,300 fewer arrivals.
According to immigration data, the highest number of tourist arrivals on a single day in February was 9,500, while the lowest was 5,400.
In the first two months of this year, 428,954 tourists visited the Maldives. In the same period last year, 409,777 arrivals were recorded, according to the Tourism Ministry.
The top five source markets for tourist arrivals last month were:
- United Kingdom – 23,210 tourists
- China – 21,928 tourists
- Russia – 20,649 tourists
- Italy – 19,120 tourists
- Germany – 14,119 tourists
In 2024, the Maldives recorded two million tourist arrivals. The government has set a target of 2.2 million arrivals for 2025.
