Pres announces ‘Maldives’ largest tourism project’, airport in Vaavu Atoll

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih announced on Monday that the biggest tourism project in the Maldives will take place in Vaavu Atoll, and the project agreement will be signed soon.

Addressing the people of V. Keyodhoo island during a campaign trip, President Solih stated that although it is a small atoll, significant economic activities are planned.

The president confirmed that preliminary agreements for the project have been signed with a developer, adding that the project also includes the construction of an airport.

“When we go to Male tomorrow, we will convene the Economic Council to finalise the remaining matters. Project implementation will follow shortly… With this project, the wishes of the community to have air connectivity to this atoll will also be fulfilled,” he said.

The president further mentioned that more details of the project will be revealed soon.
