Visit Maldives launches ‘Visit Maldives Week’ in Germany and Switzerland

Visit Maldives has officially launched Visit Maldives Week in Germany and Switzerland, held from 2nd to 5th June 2025. This dynamic roadshow brings the charm and appeal of the Maldives to three key European cities—Munich, Frankfurt, and Zurich—as part of a strategic effort to strengthen the destination’s visibility in these important markets. Supported by 11 prominent tourism industry partners from the Maldives, the event aims to foster deeper connections with travel trade professionals, cultivate new business opportunities, and reinforce the Maldives’ position as a premier destination for diverse traveller segments.

The roadshow commenced in Munich on 2nd June, continued in Frankfurt on 3rd June, and is scheduled to conclude in Zurich on 5th June. Each stop provides an immersive dive into the Maldivian travel experience through tailored destination presentations, B2B meetings, networking sessions, and cultural elements that highlight the Maldives’ natural beauty, renowned hospitality, and wide array of tourism products. Participating partners include Lily Hotels, Universal Resorts, LUX* South Ari Atoll, Beond – Simdi Operations Private Limited, Kandima Maldives, JW Marriott Maldives Resort & Spa, Filitheyo Island Resort, Furaveri Island Resort & Spa, Diamonds Thudufushi Beach & Water Villas, The St. Regis Maldives Vommuli Resort, and Resort Life Travel Pvt Ltd.

Each edition of Visit Maldives Week is carefully tailored to suit local markets. For this German-Swiss edition, German-language branding and promotional materials are featured prominently. Strategic collaborations with luxury publications and lifestyle brands specifically target high-net-worth travellers. The roadshow also highlights nature-based and conservation-oriented travel experiences, reflecting global tourism trends and reinforcing the Maldives’ image as a sustainable and eco-conscious destination. To boost engagement, each event includes a raffle offering complimentary holidays in the Maldives, sponsored by Kandima Maldives (Munich and Frankfurt), Diamonds Thudufushi Maldives (Munich), Sandies Bathala Maldives (Zurich), and Beond and Furaveri Maldives (all three cities).

Germany and Switzerland continue to be among the Maldives’ most vital tourism source markets. In 2024, Germany ranked fourth with 157,246 tourist arrivals and has maintained strong performance in 2025 with 71,278 arrivals recorded as of 22nd May. Switzerland placed tenth in 2024 with 41,062 visitors and rose to ninth place in 2025 with 21,478 arrivals in the same period. As global travel demand accelerates, Visit Maldives Week serves to further the destination’s mission of recovering and surpassing pre-pandemic arrival figures by engaging travel trade professionals directly.

This initiative builds upon a series of ongoing promotional campaigns in the region. Recent highlights include the Maldives’ participation in ITB Berlin 2025 and IMM Germany 2025, a city-wide taxi advertising campaign in Berlin, and focused marketing during the Berlinale Film Festival. Additionally, a joint marketing campaign with TUI DACH is underway, while upcoming collaborations with DER Tour and curated media familiarisation trips are expected to further enhance the Maldives’ market presence and conversion rates.
