Chinese tourist arrivals exceed 200,000
The number of Chinese tourists visiting the Maldives this year has surpassed 200,000.
As reported by the Ministry of Tourism, 202,613 tourists from China have visited the Maldives as of yesterday. This represents 15 percent of the 1.3 million total tourist arrivals recorded so far this year.
Following China, the leading source markets are:
- Russia: 149,920 arrivals
- United Kingdom: 119,189 arrivals
- Italy: 102,000 arrivals
- Germany: 97,804 arrivals
- India: 83,045 arrivals
Tourism statistics also reveal a rise in the number of visitors over the past three months compared to the same period in the previous two years.
The government has set a goal of welcoming two million tourists by the end of this year.
