Where is a woman’s place? Hear it from women of Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts Maldives
For generations, women have heard phrases like “this is no place for a woman,” but at Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts, their female employees are not only welcomed, they thrive. This Women’s Day, Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts reaffirms its commitment to being an equal opportunities employer, challenging outdated perceptions, and paving the way for more women in hospitality.
Through the voices of inspiring women working across the resorts in the Maldives at Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts, we explore the resilience, ambition, and passion that drive them to succeed in an industry often perceived as male-dominated. Here are their stories.
Malvika Pant – Strength in balance at Cinnamon Velifushi Maldives
For Malvika Pant, yoga is more than a profession, it is a way of life. As both a Yoga Instructor and Guest Experience Assistant at Cinnamon Velifushi Maldives, she seamlessly blends mindfulness with hospitality, creating a unique and fulfilling career path.
“My passion for yoga and connecting with people inspired me to take on this dual role,” Malvika shares. “Cinnamon Velifushi Maldives gave me the opportunity to share my skills while learning something new every day.” Working in a supportive environment has been key to her success. “It feels empowering to work in a place where women are respected, supported, and given equal opportunities to shine.”
Her advice to women aspiring to enter the industry? “Believe in yourself, trust your journey, and never give up. Don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone. Every small step counts. Your place is where you feel confident and valued.”
Nasaim Nasym – Rising through the ranks at Cinnamon Dhonveli Maldives
For Nasaim Nasym, as a Guest Experience Assistant at Cinnamon Dhonveli Maldives, she embodies warmth, passion, and dedication in her work. Her journey from cashier to a key member of the Front Office team solidifies her ambition and perseverance.
“I’ve always been passionate about making a career in hospitality,” she shares. “I thrive in vibrant, interactive settings, and this industry felt like a perfect fit for my personality.” Nasa’s career at Cinnamon Dhonveli Maldives began as a cashier, but her natural ability to connect with guests was quickly recognised. Within three months, she transitioned to a Guest Service Agent role, engaging directly with guests—an aspect of hospitality she deeply enjoys.
Looking ahead, Nasa is determined to grow within the industry. “In the next three to five years, I see myself in a supervisor-level position or even higher,” she says confidently.
Dr Bimali Lakshitha – Thriving beyond boundaries at Cinnamon Hakuraa Huraa Maldives
For Dr Bimali Lakshitha, becoming a resort doctor was an unexpected yet fulfilling challenge. Drawn to the role for the change of pace and independence it offered, she embraced the opportunity to work in a remote setting with limited resources, an experience that tested and strengthened her resilience.
“I found my place at Cinnamon Hakuraa Huraa Maldives by proactively learning about the culture, taking initiative in my role, and building strong relationships with my colleagues,” she shares. While the medical field is not as male-dominated as some other industries, Bimali notes that the majority are still men.
Her advice to other women is both practical and empowering. “Build yourself every day! Keep learning, growing, and adding value to your life. Become as independent as you can and never compare yourself with anyone. Stand up for yourself and chase what makes you happy. Become your own unique individual.”
Stories like Malvika’s, Nasa’s, and Bimali’s highlight the evolving nature of hospitality, where women are not just participating but excelling. At Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts, talent is nurtured, achievements are celebrated, and barriers are broken.
Women have always had a place in hospitality. Now, they have a place to lead, to grow, and to thrive. At Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts, a woman’s place is anywhere she chooses it to be.
