Top Hospitality Hires of the Month

During June 2022, the Maldives hospitality industry welcomed new general managers at three resorts- Gaurav Thakur at Hilton Maldives Amingiri Resort & Spa, Hassan Adil at Sun Siyam Olhuveli and Antonio Saponara at Patina Maldives, Fari Islands. We also saw the appointment of Gaurav Makhijani as director of sales & marketing at Kuda Villingili Resort Maldives and three key hires at Grand Park Kodhipparu.

Sovan Das, Executive Chef, Banyan Tree Vabbinfaru and Angsana Ihuru

Banyan Tree Vabbinfaru and Angsana Ihuru has appointed Sovan Das as the resorts’ new executive chef.

Sovan brings 20 years of culinary experience working with luxury brands in India, the United Arab Emirates, the Maldives, and the Caribbean, such as Taj, Alila, Radisson, and recently, The Palladium Resorts in the Caribbean. His experience working in a multi-cultural environment gives him a strong background in various international cuisines such as Italian, French, Mediterranean, Pan American, East African, Pan Asian, Bangladeshi, Nepali, and Indian.

Aminath Shaly, Director of Human Resources, Oaga Art Resort

Upcoming property Oaga Art Resort has appointed Aminath Shaly as human resource director. Shaly brings in over two decades’ experience in the industry.

An MBA graduate from Cardiff Metropolitan University, UK, Shaly has won multiple awards, including the WIM 2019 Gold Award for Leadership Excellence in Human Resources – Professional Career Woman Award, Top 50 Maldivian HR Professionals in 2017 and 2018, Top Global 100 – HR Minds 2017 and Top Global 100 – Most Influential 2016. She was also an exco member of Maldives Association of Human Resource Professional (MAHRP) in 2018, and is currently a member of the association.

Anuj Singh, Executive Chef, Cora Cora Maldives

Cora Cora Maldives has appointed Anuj Singh as new executive chef.

Chef Anuj has more than two decades’ of experience in international and Asian cuisine. He most recently performed as executive sous chef at the One & Only Reethi Rah with a team of 105 chefs and six outlets to manage. He also worked across the country in various settings including fine dining and Italian establishments and worked with the renowned Chef Pitamber and Chef Roberto Mancini. He then worked at Le Meridien hotel in UAE in their Sea Food Restaurant then moved to the Maldives, where he has worked his way up from Commis Chef to Executive Chef over the past thirteen years.
