Splendid Asia to Begin Charters from Denmark

Splendid Asia Pvt Ltd, an established inbound travel agency and tour operator in the Maldives, is to begin charter flights from Billund International Airport (Denmark) to Gan International Airport in Addu Atoll. Starting from 6 January 2015, the charters will arrive on a 9 nights, 12 nights and 14 nights rotation. The new charter will be operated in association with a Danish tour operator and is expected to bring a boost to the hotels in Addu Atoll.

3D Coral Reef Imaging Technology Introduced

A 3D coral reef imaging methodology has been introduced in the Maldives by locally based Maldives Energy and Environment Company (MEECO). At a small event held at Salt Café, Male, the methodology was introduced by representatives of MEECO and US NGO Hydrous. The technique which involves conversion of regular photographs to detailed digital 3D images has the potential to enhance the education and research of coral reefs.

The newest addition to the Maldivian’s fleet, a DHC-6 Twin Otter Craft (8Q IAF) arrived on 9 December at Ibrahim Nasir International Airport. With this new addition, Maldivian’s twin otter fleet would consist of four seaplanes.Having introduced seaplane flights just this year, Maldivian is the leading airline in domestic flights, and is striving to strengthen and excel the flying experience for all their customers. It has brought three other seaplanes this year spanning from April 2014 to 9 December and is planning to expand, with the possibility of increasing the fleet to a total of eight seaplanes by next year.
